Love these guys, went above and beyond, top brand Ozzie made, good hard wearing bit of kit, going to get more use out of this, first few nights camping it out performed its replacement, easy to control heat quick clean up, just beautifully made and simple.
It is a standard Gas Mate Rotisserie Kit with additional brackets to suit the fire pit rather than a standard BBQ mount. The additional brackets are "loose" fitting therefore the whole rotisserie feels flimsy, which when you are cooking a piece of meet over coals, doesn't provide confidence that it will stay in position. Rather than setting it up and leaving it to rotate and cook with minimal supervision we had to consistently monitor it to make sure it didn't fall into the coals.
Received the fire pit and it was exactly what I was expecting and I would highly endorse it. Used it over Easter and it fulfilled my expectations. Initially it was delivered without the bonus stainless steel carry case but after making contact and advising such they promptly sent it out on another delivery. To be honest the carry case would not be worth it to buy. It adds unnecessary weight for little value and the latches are finnicky so I am glad it was a bonus and I didn't actually pay extra for it.
I can’t review it as I haven’t gotten it yet, still waiting on it’s arrival
I purchased the original inferno fire pit just before Xmas and took it on a month long camping trip. I was upgrading from a big box, camping store’s brand of fire pit, which was of similar shape and size.
We used it regularly during that time (fire bans permitting) and were impressed by the lack of permanent warping (a little bend in the plate when hot, but corrects on cooling) or no rust despite beach side camping and leaving it out in the rain a few times. My prior pit had plenty of warping and rust spots after just a 10 day trip.
Also noted compared to my previous fire pit, is that it isn’t completely blackened yet and withstands that blackening well. It also has far less of those small fine scratches that are standard with general use in fire pits. This lack of warping also makes it a lot easier to assemble yourself compared to other flat pack fire pits.
The pot holders worked a treat at getting the nice slow simmer the mocka pot needs to make great coffee. We were also glad that these were usable even when the pit is configured with the walls at the lower position (with some slight adjustments to the side wall placement to allow the rods to slot into the air flow holes).
One improvement could be to adjust the hole placement or pot holder rod sizing, so this is allowable without having to make those adjustments which results in a small gap at the bottom which would otherwise overlap.
Another improvement would be to somehow increase airflow when the pit is configured at the higher setting. You can certainly keep a fire going on the higher setting, but the reduced airflow is notable.
These two things are by no means an issue but would just make these even more awesome.
My one criticism of the product however, was that a large reason I chose this pit over others, was its ability to pack into the self contained metal case which also doubles as an ember and ash catcher. After the first use, the latches on the case bent and no longer hold the case together. This meant when packed up, I could not simply carry the case one handed by the handle. It’s not that they are defective, but are rather clearly two small for the weight of the firepit. Another improvement could be to have a wider carrry handle, as the thin metal handle digs into the hands a fair pit due to the weight of the pit. If the case was made with bigger and more sturdy latches, and a wider carry handle, I would easily give this a 10/10.
All that said, I do not regret the purchase and am overall impressed with the quality and design of the firepit itself. I’m going to look into replacing the latches for bigger ones to make it the perfect fire pit, but as is, it is near perfect enough.
Not used yet. Fire pit looks well designed, solid and of high quality. Heavy as to be expected.
Metal case was cumbersome to open. Would be better in a heavy duty canvas bag that way you could fit all components (fire pit, tray, brush and metal rods) in same place.
Built to last but very heavy. Easy and quick to assemble. The accessories need to be designed to fit in the case when packed away so they are not left behind. The paper fabrics cover came damaged and next to useless for such a heavy item. I would be happy to pay for a strong canvas cover to protect it and the things it comes in contact with.
Works exceptionally well only down fall are the weak clips holding the carry case together it’s an excellent product and I am very happy with it
…the stainless steel carry case leaves a bit to be desired. Main one is weight - it feels like the case is another 3-4Kg itself. The clips that keep it closed also are less than trustworthy looking. But regardless, I’m happy enough with the included canvas carry bag, and the fact all the pieces of the fire pit stack together, and can be secured with the wing nuts so they don’t move around while traveling is good enough for me.
Ordered 27th April
Emailed company 7th of May questioning whereabouts of order considering website said 48 hour shipment from order date. Instant reply saying order was going to be shipped tomorrow....... Nope. Email on 9th saying shipment booked on 9th..... Still nothing. Emailed fire pit again on 21st, instant reply "shipping issues etc" new transit notice on 22nd....... On its way, but as at 23 May, Still no fire pit. but have received this email to rate the product that I haven't received!!!
Assembly is easy and looks great, great for cooking. Unfortunately arrived with dents and marks due to how the firepit is held together with a screw and wing nut. Obviously not very impressed when I first opened it but it's bound to get more while camping so I didn't mind it.
As advertised and well made. Fitted beautifully. Recommended product and great customer service.
Bought this fire pit five years ago and it’s been thoroughly abused on camping trips and back yard bbq with spits
cannot fault this fire pit as it hasn’t warped at all
It's a beast—heavy, and that's good. But to couple it with flimsy latches that can't hold the weight is bad. Yes, I checked the fitting, and yes, I packed it correctly, but the near miss to the case pulling apart and 21kg of steel racing down to my foot (missed by 2cm) was a scary moment. Since I use a strap to keep it closed, but then again, what's the point? So good—n—bad.
Very well made and easy to pack and unpack. It's coming on our next trip.
I ordered the compact inferno starter. It came in the large carry case - defeating it's compact status. Additionally, the end plates had V's cut into them which means only one upper position for the side plates - giving a small area to place timber. I decided not to complain until this review came along. Hoping this review encourages the two issues to get sorted for future customer supplies. The design is great but the production side is poor.
Received in good time looks like good quality and will function as intended but have not used them as yet.
Received in a timely manner but not had a chance to use them yet but they are of good quality and expect them to function as advertised.
Great quality and finish, more than helpful with my questions when contacted about product features and inclusions.
I am very happy with the fire pit already used it to cook a barbie with and had the camp oven on it last night worked very well and it packs away to almost nothing excellent product.
Aramex have no idea where it is. Very disappointing.
